I have been having a lot of trouble with the postscript driver for my HP2200 printer that we use for the MAC. Every time I delete the printer and try to re-create it, old stuff keeps coming back. After lots of web research, I finally found a way to do it without having some higher end server operating system.

You can remove print drivers that are not associated with a local printer or connection using the printui.exe tool

in an admin elevated command prompt (right click windows PowerShell and run as administrator) type

printui /s /t2

Be sure to remove the driver AND the package.

This showed me a bunch of stale drivers and let me delete them.

When I plugged the printer back into the computer, the correct PCL 5 drivers were installed. Then I went to add a new printer for the PS drivers, using the existing PCL 5 driver port. This seemed to work, and printed a test page for me. Setting sharing to HP2200PSCRIPT, I was also able to print from the MAC. The only problem is that the PS driver does not show up on the Devices and Printers window.

Hopefully this will hold for a while!
