Revision as of 23:27, 31 May 2021

I replaced my old laptop with a Lenovo Yoga machine that comes standard with a SSD and 16gB of memory.

The new machine

  • Lenovo Yoga 730-15IKB (Yoga 730-15 Series)
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-8550U 4 x 1.8 - 4 GHz, Kaby Lake Refresh
  • Graphics adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Mobile - 4096 MB, Core: 1493 MHz, Memory: 1752 MHz, GDDR5, 128 bit-wide bus, ForceWare 398.36, Optimus
  • Memory: 16384 MB DDR4-2400, dual-channel, one RAM slot (occupied), 8 GB of RAM soldered-in
  • Display: 15.60 inch 16:9, 3840 x 2160 pixel 282 PPI, capacitive, 10 finger multitouch, native pen support, BOE HF NV156QUM-N51, IPS, glossy: yes
  • Mainboard: Intel Kaby Lake-U iHDCP 2.2 Premium PCH
  • Storage: MZVLB512HAJQ-000L2 Samsung PM981 Series 512GB TLC PCI Express 3.0 x4 NVMe M.2 2280 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
  • Soundcard: Realtek ALC236 @ Intel Sunrise Point-LP PCH - High Definition Audiocontroller
  • Connections: 2 USB 3.0 / 3.1 Gen1, 1 USB 3.1 Gen2, 1 Thunderbolt, 1 HDMI, 1 DisplayPort, Audio Connections: 3.5-mm audio jack, 1 Fingerprint Reader, Brightness Sensor, Sensors: motion sensor, TPM 2.0
  • Networking: Realtek RTL8822BE Wireless LAN 802.11ac PCIe Adapter (a/b/g/n = Wi-Fi 4/ac = Wi-Fi 5), Bluetooth 4.2
  • height x width x depth (in mm): 17.2 x 360 x 249 ( = 0.68 x 14.17 x 9.8 in)
  • Battery: 51.5 Wh, 4520 mAh Lithium-Ion, 11.4 V
  • Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64 Bit
  • Camera Webcam: HD Primary Camera: 0.9 MPix
  • Backlit Keyboard Light
  • 4.17 pounds
  • Convertible Laptop/Tablet

Very nice machine with a couple of flaws: the camera is not very good. I use a logitech webcam when it matters. The sound is not very good. I use it with a small Taotronics usb powered soundbar, which works great with it.
