Back to Software Added and Removed

Added 7/15/2012

FreeOCR is software that extracts text from an image, normally a scanned page of text, but really from any image file. It is based on Google's Tesseract optical character recognition engine. I installed it to scan some writing my mother had done back when she had a dot matrix printer and wrote a memoir. FreeOCR is available here.
